Jezebel: DELETE
When Jezebel.com first launched, I was in love.  It was as if my best friends formed a blog.  Sex, celebrity, fashion and politics were discussed with equal bits of seriously and levity.  There was a clear point of view, but it didn’t smack of pandering or incitement.  Unfortunately, as the blog gained steam and hits, the quality seemed to directly dip.  My visits have gradually slowed to a...

Covet's grand opening
I was at the grand opening of Covet tonight.  An appearance by Ramona Singer of the Real Housewives of NYC was promised, I failed to catch a glimpse.  On the up side, Covet has fabulous (strong) drinks and addictively tasty food.  I lost count of the number of mozzarella, pesto and tomato skewers I downed.  Also, the bite-sized cupcakes are heavenly.  They pretty made up for the lack of TURTLE...

Injuries from heels: 0, Injuries from flats: 2
Prior to this month, the only time I’ve ever been crippled by shoes involved an ill-fated trek to the Hill about five years ago in new flats that left me bleeding and limping for about a week.  I wholeheartedly blame the shoes and have refused to wear flats since - save tennis shoes.  After a too long break from running and the gym, I decided to join my local YMCA a few weeks ago. Naturally,...

Enter for a Chance to Win a $100 Shopbop Gift Card...
The best things in life are free.  Particularly free designer things.  Thanks to the folks at Shopbop, you could $100 gift card just for taking a moment to comment. Though Shopbop is filled with swoon-worthy items, their Alexander Wang dresses are some of my favorites.  I’d be inclined to put the money toward the Sequin Goddess dress, but I’m easily distracted by shiny things.  If...

Just returned from the DvF sample sale
Should have gone earlier in the week.  Though prices have dropped, the selection is bargain basement.  I roamed the space looking for the rest of the 0s for a while, only to realize that the handful of not-so-cute brown and black maxi dresses comprised the entire size 0 section.  A glance at the rest of the size racks revealed little better.  Supposedly they’re not restocking, so I’d...

Skip a lunch, save a bird
No matter your political leanings or opinion on who is to blame or whether any party should be doing more, it should be universally agreed that the absolutely heartbreaking damage done to the wildlife in the Gulf Coast merits help.  I’m not sure any animal lover could look at these photographs and think their $10 is better spent at a sandwich and drink at Cosi.  Please, take a moment and...

On Jezebel's "Good, Bad, Ugly"
Fashion tends to be a very personal topic - one person’s hideous is another’s stunning.  I tend to err on the side of applauding risk takers and those who end up in traditional “what on earth??” lists.  I have a love/hate relationship with Jezebel.com.  I love their exposés on dirt bags like Terry Richardson and Scott Baio, but sometimes I find the site close-minded. ...

– Things I never notice on a woman - short eyelashes.  Things I certainly notice - cheek hair.  To me, Latisse symbolizes the ultimate in unnecessary beauty treatments.  Are slightly longer lashes really worth all the downsides highlighted by the New York Times? Including a cost of over $100 a month,...

“I never said that plus-size models are unhealthy.”
– Get it right people, Garance Doré wasn’t trying to slam plus-sizes! She only said “(i)t’s not such a good thing to show plus-size because it’s not really physically healthy and not always flattering to fashion.”  It boggles the mind that a blogger would fail to realize...

Belated law school prom observation
My friend Emily and I stopped counting after we spotted 17 different Hervé Léger dresses.  Aside from the fact that very few people can actually pull these dresses off, how on earth do so many law students afford them?  I assumed, on the whole, grad students had high school-levels of disposable income.  I guess one should never discount the prevalence of trust fund babies in New York City.
