That whole thing about how if you wear heels all the time, it’ll be painful to walk in flats - SO TRUE.

A woman has the age she deserves. - Coco Chanel
This week’s New York Times Fashion Diary chronicled the escalation of two divergent camps within menswear - Thom Brown v. Tom Ford. Youthful flippancy against timeless glamour. “(W)e find ourselves parading giddily toward the playhouse dressed up as our child selves in bow ties and knee socks, or else as our fathers doing impersonations of themselves.” The topic of numerical...

Trying far too hard
Last night I attended the Fashion for Paws and Capitol File “Spring Fling” at Intermix. Per usual, I arrived early, to a very thin crowd, mostly donning ill-fitting Hervé Léger. While waiting for Chris to arrive, I perused the ignored racks of clothing. The event was designed as a sale where 10% of profits would go to the Humane Society. Alas, 10% of nothing does not buy many bones...

We just got set back a few years.
There’s been much talk lately of DC’s advancement as a fashion center of sorts - style parties abound, fashion blogs are popping up like weeds, and trendy stores seem to be thriving. Alas, there’s always a bump in the road. On my way to work this morning, I crossed the path of a woman donning a hideous whale emblazoned sweatshirt. The cartoon-ish style and sloppiness normally...

I know, it's been a "meh" week
Wish I had more to report this week, but I’ve been mildly crippled. Apparently walking 5+ miles during the day and running at night isn’t so great for your feet. At least I know it’s not solely due to my heels (see link below to article on how heels and flats can be terrible). Tonight I’m attending the Cusp party, hopefully with Victoria (hint hint nudge nudge), hoping...

Things I Dislike
Affordable diffusion lines debuting at luxury stores. Rogan for Target’s Go International line goes on sale Friday at Barneys. Yes, you read correctly. Those of us who like to purchase our Target clothes at Target must wait until May 15. Is this what happens when Simon runs off to promote a book? Bring him back! Michael Lichtenstein, owner and founder of Group L Consulting, put it...

Tequila!
If you haven’t noticed, my affinity for cocktails only lags a slight bit behind my love for fashion.  Courtesy of Washingtonian, I present one of my personal favorites. The Oyamel!                                     Salt Air      1 cup Water       2 tablespoons salt       ½ cup Lime juice       1 teaspoon of Soy Lecithin      Margarita      1 ½ oz. Success!
My quest for the perfect summer swimsuits has (hopefully) come to an end.  I intended to go back to Rugby to check for the new summer line, maybe swing in Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger, and end my search at H&M, but laziness and a guarantee of a sale won out.  Victoria’s Secret currently has over 200 suits 25% to 40% off.   Ideally, I was looking for a flirty plaid bikini for play,...

Dear Cusp,
I want to like you, I really do. I have spent countless hours and far too many dollars visiting you, yet you barely spare a moment to say hello. I know I’m not a 40-something socialite looking to let you select my entire spring/summer wardrobe, but jeez, can’t a girl get a little respect? As much as I want to stay away, your stellar sale prices just bring me back time and time...

DC Scout wrap up
DC Scout’s “Birthday Party” could have been more of a scene, but passed muster for a Thursday happy hour slot. Had they wrangled a Friday or Saturday evening event, it would have been a bust. Walking into Barney’s Co-op in Georgetown, you had to strain to find the event theme. It appeared to be more of a members only sale than an outside-sponsor soiree. If you looked...

New Month's Resolutions
Identify and attend more events involving gift bags and free drinks.  Focus on those with real glassware and superior cupcakes. Rid closet of all useless/damaged/ill fitting clothing and shoes.  They are taking up valuable space. Take in winter shoes for re-heeling and repairs. Take more risks with clothing.  My outfits seem to have taken a dull turn the last few weeks. Resist urges to...

Oh, HELL NO
Project Runway moving to LA?? Why not just put it in DC? At least we’re a $30/4 hour bus trip away from a real fashion center. LA? Ugh, Lifetime, I didn’t think I could hate you any more. Edit: Does this mean the end of Nina, Michael and Tim?? They are all based out of NY.  If Tim goes, I go.  PR in LA, on Lifetime, sans Tim would not be a PR worth viewing.
